PRESS RELEASE

THE FEDERAL HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES SEAT ROTATORILY SHARED BY ISUIKWUATO/UMUNNEOCHI LGAs IS UNEQUIVOCALLY THE TURN OF ISUIKWUATO TO SEND A REPRESENTATIVE

(1) Isuikwuato and Umunneochi are sister LGAs

(2) Isuikwuato/Umunneochi LGA was carved out of the then Isuikwuato/Okigwe LGA Imo state.

(3) These two LGAs agreed to be part of the agitation for a state of Abia which name Isuikwuato is in the acronym for Abia state meaning Afikpo, Bends, Isuikwuato and Aba areas that make up the state.

(4) A Federal Constituency was created for these sister LGAs – Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency.

(5) Isuikwuato LGA sent the first Representative for this Federal Constituency to the Federal House of Representatives.

(6) A need then arose to fashion a peaceful, harmonious and equitable manner for the two LGAs to share exposure to the Federal House.

(7) This was followed by Gentleman’s and brotherly discussion that prescribed each side to present a member of Federal House of Representatives for 2 terms after which the other LGA will present.

(8) This understanding saw Isuikwuato LGA to prevail over her son, Hon Uche Maduako, that was then occupying the seat and who had ample resources and connections to continue if they wanted, to halt his ambition to continue as at then.

(9) Above scenario was what galvanized Mrs Nkeiruka Onyejiocha from Umunneochi LGA as Representative to Isuikwuato/Umunneochi at the Federal House of Representatives.

(10) On the completion of her second term in that exalted office, Mrs Nkeiruka Onyejiocha refused to honour this understanding which is currently threatening to undermine the cordial and peaceful relationship between Isuikwuato and Umunneochi people.

(11) Due to her obstinate behaviour and against the popular position of many Umunneochi people to the contrary, Mrs Nkeiruka Onyejiocha went ahead for the office for a 3rd term and is about to complete it. Mrs Nkeiruka Onyejiocha has boasted and continue to boast that neither Isuikwuato nor Umunneochi people will be able to make her revert to the agreed terms.

(12) To prove her obduracy, one political party which made her politically from nothing tried to bring her to the part of sanity but her reaction was to leave that party, work against it and embrace another which assured her and indeed gave her ticket for a fourth tenure on that seat.

PURPOSE OF THIS RELEASE

The purpose of this release is to state in no uncertain terms and on behalf of the people of Isuikwuato LGA that:

(1) Nkeiruka Onyejiocha must be stopped from winning for the 4th term for the Federal House of Representatives seat.

(2) The time is long overdue for Isuikwuato LGA to occupy that seat and we have resolved to do just that.

(3) That Nkeiruka Onyejiocha by her actions, attitude and utterances is jeopardizing the relationship between Isuikwuato and Umunneochi LGA.

(4) That by her obduracy, she is also actually harming Umunneochi citizens whose hope for exposure to this seat in due course is fast becoming a mirage.

Finally,

We declare and direct that, NO Isuikwuato LGA son or daughter must cast a vote for the Federal House of Representatives to Mrs Nkeiruka Onyejiocha.

Be properly guided.

Only a slave from Isuikwuato LGA can cast a vote for this woman who has insulted and continue to insult the proud and eminent people of Isuikwuato LGA.

We also declare that only a man or woman without direction from Umunneochi LGA will cast a vote for this woman whose singular aim is to spark off crisis between hitherto peaceful and friendly brothers. Brothers whose non harmonious relationship will not only harm them individually but collectively also in their aspirations as LGAs and in their joint vanguard to realise the underpinning of the ” I ” in ABIA state in the Governor slot, in view of the equity disposition of many stakeholders of Abia state.

We, therefore, call on all and sundry in Isuikwuato and Umunneochi LGAs to rise up and make a statement with their vote to the Isuikwuato candidate for the House of Representatives.

To do otherwise is to reverse progress.
