The Mayor, Air Vice Marshal (Rtd) Chiwendu Onyike, (fdc), at the Isuikwuato Local Government Council headquarters, Mbalano, presided over the Swearing In Ceremony of ten Councilors of Labour Party, representing the political wards and political stakeholders in Isuikwuato Local Government Council.

Friday, December 15, 2023, marked another important milestone, politically, in Isuikwuato Local Government Council of Abia State, Nigeria.

 

The Mayor, Air Vice Marshal (Rtd) Chiwendu Onyike, (fdc), at the Isuikwuato Local Government Council headquarters, Mbalano, presided over the Swearing In Ceremony of ten Councilors of Labour Party, representing the political wards and political stakeholders in Isuikwuato Local Government Council.

 

The Deputy Mayor of Isuikwuato Local Government Council, Honourable Goodluck Okezie; the top echelons of the Management and Staff of the administrative machinery in Isuikwuato Local Government Council, comprising the Head of Service; Head of Personnel Management; team of Heads of Units and work force in the Council; were present in the historic event.

The high point of the historic occasion was the Administration of the Oath on the Councilors, performed by the Head of Personnel Management in Isuikwuato Local Government Council.

 

Starting first with the Oath of Allegiance; and followed by the Oath of Secrecy.

The respective Oath taking segments were concluded with each Councillor signing the prescribed and required documents, signifying the testament of affirmations to seal the symbolic constitutional cum administrative significance of the Oath, in observance of the spirit of the Oath, as statutorily designed and intended, to guide against acts of abuse of office, particularly against divulging sensitive or classified information in government circles.

 

The ten Councilors sworn in, by taking the Oath, in the ceremony comprised the following persons:

 

John Madukwe, Ward I; Duncan N. Orji, Ward 2; Chukwudi Nweke, Ward 3;

Uche Clement Gabaolu, Ward 4; Jeremiah Atuegwu, Ward 5; Ikejiaku Chukwuma, Ward 6; Promise Offor Isaac, Ward 7; Sunday Mark, Ward 8; Innocent Uwaezuoke, Ward 9; and Chimuanya Ogbonnaya, Ward 10.

 

Addressing the Councilors, shortly after taking the Oath, the Labour Party Chairman, Isuikwuato Chapter, Honourable Harrison Onuke, congratulated individually and collectively the Councilors on the appointments and emergence as political leaders, chosen to serve on the platform of Isuikwuato Local Government Council, in the new political dispensation in Abia State, under the aegis of Labour Party administration.

 

Onuke, emphasized that the enormous responsibilities on the shoulders of the Councilors required astute dispositions of diligence in service to the people of Isuikwuato Local Government Council. The Party Chairman, canvassed the critical perspective that service should be the main focus, and prioritized, on the agenda of the Councilors, even as he appealed to the Councilors to avoid placing personal agendas above the collective interests of the teeming populace, who have embraced with great expectations the current political dispensation, under the leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR.

John Madukwe, Councilor, representing Ward 1, while offering vote of thanks on behalf of other Councilor’s, expressed immense gratitude to the State Governor, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, and the Labour Party, for the great honour and the privileged opportunities extended to the Councilor’s to be part of the Vanguard of the New Abia and vision of the current Administration of the State Governor.

 

Madukwe, described the Councilors as “Strategic Partners of the Mayor” chosen to help foster and deepen the roots of the transformative ideologies of the Labour Party administration at Isuikwuato Local Government Council level; and assured the Mayor, Air Vice Marshal (Rtd) Chiwendu Onyike, of the unalloyed cooperation and support of the Councilors as allies of the Mayor’s trusted and highly rated stewardship.

 

Concluding, Madukwe, pledged the resolve of the Councilors to join hands collectively with the Mayor to function holistically and synergistically as a focused driven team.

 

The event’s climax, ultimately featured the address of the Mayor, Air Vice Marshall (Rtd) Chiwendu Onyike, fdc.

 

The Mayor, described the Swearing In Ceremony, as his “first official assignment” and expressed deep and profound sense of humility and responsibility to oversee the historic event.

 

The Mayor congratulated the Councilors, who have been appointed by the State Government, to constitute integral and strategic members of the leadership team in Isuikwuato Local Government Council.

 

Air Vice Marshal (Rtd) Chiwendu Onyike, expressed his conviction on the individual and collective abilities of the Councilors to discharge the burdens of the statutory duties and responsibilities effectively, leveraging on the unflinching support of the Mayor; the Deputy Mayor; Management and Staff of Isuikwuato Local Government Council, all working cohesively as committed and devoted team.

 

Air Vice Marshal (Rtd) Chiwendu Onyike, pointed out, specifically, the great significance of the Swearing In Ceremony of the Councilors, without doubts, underscored particularly the consolidation of well-reasoned departure from the “Old Order” in the political cum administrative millieu, mentality, philosophy, and psyche, in Abia State, especially in government circles; and the reassuring enthronement of a “New Order”, under His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti’s leadership in governance.

 

The Mayor, emphasized that the “New Order” marked by successful Swearing In Ceremony of the Councilors, now has cascaded essentially to the 17 LGAs in Abia State, with Isuikwuato Local Government Council as practical example and reference point.

 

The Major harped with great sense of enthusiasm on the critical essence of service-oriented mindset as the watchword and the singular objective of his leadership and encouraged the Councillors as political representatives of the various political wards in Isuikwuato Local Government Council to brace up for diligent  services; be prepared to confront any challenges ahead, with the sole intent to match the great expectations of Ndi Isuikwuato with outstanding zeal and great performance, in different areas of needs.

 

The Mayor, specifically, counseled against any tendencies to elevate or promote personal or primordial group interests to overshadow the collective interests of Isuikwuato people, by the Councilors, or by any other segments of stakeholders in Isuikwuato LGA, as an entity.

 

The Abia State Governor, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, received great commendations and enconmuim from the Mayor, who described the Governor as a visionary and courageous leader, strategic thinker per excellence, pragmatic personality, astute manager, technocrat of great repute, and Apostle of Meritocracy.

The Swearing In Ceremony was well attended. Dignitaries and Eminent personalities who graced the event, included Traditional Rulers; Minister of God; Communities Leaders; prominent Political Leaders and Stakeholders; Management and Staff of Isuikwuato Local Government Council; Security Community and personnel; families members, friends and well wishers of the Councilors; as well as members of the press and Media Community.

 

Specifically, Eze Engr. Okey Ude; Eze Ernest Onyeforo; Eze Peter Ginikanwa; and Eze Nelson Ikechukwu Okezie, constituted the eminent body of Royal Fathers who added royal candour, presence and prestige to the event.

 

Very Rev. O F Ichie, of Saint Paul’s Methodist Church, Eluama, Isuikwuato, officiated and provided the desired, enabling spiritual atmospheres necessary to harness divine presence and blessings in events of this nature.

 

Ultimately, the Mayor, Air Vice Marshal (Rtd) Chiwendu Onyike, ably and assisted by the Deputy Mayor; the top level administrative cadres in Isuikwuato Local Government Council; discharged the historic duty and responsibility as directed by the Abia State Government effectively and successfully.
