The Labour Party governorship candidate in Abia state, Dr. Alex Otti’s campaign trail landed in Isuikwuato LGA on Tuesday 10th January, 2023. with a visit to Umuanyi community in Uturu, where he and his entourage took out time to pay homage to H.R.H Eze Ogbonnaya Cletus Uwadiegwu (Ojim 1 of Uturu), and members of the Isuikwuato Traditional Rulers Council.

Welcoming his guests, Eze Cletus Uwadiegwu poured encomium on the governorship candidate, pleading with his constituents to support the ambition of Dr. Otti.

The party’s candidate for Isiukwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, Hon. Chief Amobi Ogah, reminisced on how the top banker helped him and other Igbo sons and daughters when he was the CEO of Diamond Bank., and enjoined Ndi Isuikwuato to vote for Mr. Peter Obi for President, Dr. Alex Otti for governor and himself to represent the good people of Isuikwuato /Umunneochi federal constituency.

The campaign trail then moved to the Unity Hall, Ukwunwangwu, Uturu, where Otti addressed a large crowd of supporters who had trooped out to identify with him.

He promised to fix the state and make it a choice destination for investors, and further made a commitment to pay off the backlog of unpaid salaries and pensions before the year runs out, once elected as Governor of Abia State.

In his words, “The fact that we are still where we are since 2015 that the current administration started, tells you all you need to know about the situation of Abia. Infrastructure is completely decayed in the state.

Umuahia the state capital is looking like a glorified village. Aba is begging for an infrastructural upgrade. When we resume office, we shall make Aba and Umuahia a 24hour economy respectively. Those who are qualified for a job would be provided with employment”.

Dr. Otti also met and interfaced with Stakeholders, Professionals and some senior citizens from Isiukwuato at the country home of one time Chairman of the L.G.A, Engr. Charles Ojukwu.

Thereafter, the Labour Party Standard Bearer proceeded to the crowded Ovim Plaza, where he was received by excited leaders and supporters across party lines, who sang victory songs as they welcomed him.

Sharing his ideas with the electorates, the ex bank chief stated “We shall map out funds to empower women and farmers through organized and monitored Corporative Societies, so that our hard working women would have money to boost their businesses.

“Our youths would receive stimulus for their creative ideas and businesses. Our empowerment will not be ‘Keke’ empowerment program. We shall fund small businesses in the state”, he concluded.

A son of Isuikwuato and Legal Luminary, Barr. Ken Ahia, SAN, had while lending his voice to an appreciation message from a community leader over the road project attracted to Isuikwuato by Dr. Otti, informed the crowd that the road was not the only good gesture Dr. Otti had done to Ndi Isuikwuato, but that as a friend of Isuikwuato people, he has always supported them, and recollected how Otti made the biggest donation many years ago while he was still in the bank for the construction of Isuikwuato Development Centre at Ndubuisi Kanu Square. Barr. Ahia also mentioned another road Dr. Otti had already pushed in for construction before the dissolution of the NDDC board among other supportive interventions.

In company of Dr. Otti were; his wife, Mrs. Priscilla Otti; the State Campaign Coordinator of the Alex Otti Campaign Council, Hon. Iheanacho Obioma(Chomen); the LP State Chairman, Hon. Ceekay Igara, Chief Nnamdi Iro Oji, the LP Senatorial Candidate for Abia North; Hon. Chief Amobi Ogah, the Labour Party candidate for Isiukwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency; Hon. Ifeanyi Njoko, the House of Assembly candidate and members of the Alex Otti Campaign Council etc.
