IPAC EXPRESSES REGRET, DISAPPOINTMENT OVER SUDDEN ELECTION POSTPONEMENT

The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) Abia State chapter have expressed great disappointed over the postponement of the presidential and gubernatorial elections scheduled for Saturday, February 16th and Saturday Match 2nd 2019 respectively.

In a press release on Monday February 18th, IPAC expressed disappointment with the sudden postponement of the elections few hours to actual voting despite the huge financial, human and material resources that have gone into preparations for the polls.

IPAC commended the police, INEC and other security agencies for the proper arrangement put in place during the distribution of election materials on Friday, February 15th before the news of the sudden postponement broke out and urged them to replicate same on all the polling units in the state to forestall breakdown of law and order.

IPAC however said that the body is aware of some grand plan by some candidates to cause chaos and security breach in some areas of the state namely Isialangwa and Aba metropolis by using militants and cultist to snatch election materials, harass and intimidate voters.

IPAC warned those candidates to desist from such plan as the body in collaboration with EFCC and other security agencies have set up security surveillance to monitor those areas.

IPAC called on INEC and the police to investigate and prosecute desperate politicians and thier cohorts caught with already written election result sheets recently in Umuahia before the commencement of the presidential and National Assembly election.
