Demolition of marked structures along the Okpara Square-Ossah road for the 6 lane 3.5KM road project initiated by the Abia State Government led by Dr Alex Otti, OFR, begun on Monday, September 25.

However, there have been contradictions to this statement as some persons claim that majority of the beneficiaries are yet to receive compensation, while others blamed the Accountant General of the state, Njum Onyemenam for the delay in payment .

Clarifying the issue on Thursday, Onyemenam said many have received their compensation especially those who provided correct bank details, while others are yet to submit their data to get paid.

“We have gotten confirmations that claimants have already started receiving their monies, that is the position right now.

“Claimants who have provided us with their current bank details have received their payments,” Onyemenam said.

Proffering solution to those yet to receive their compensation, the Accountant General advised that;

1. Those who have accounts with the old Diamond Bank and may not have received their monies should go to their bank and get alternative Access Bank account numbers to enable them receive payments as the old Diamond Bank is not compliant with the payment platform.
