ABIA: How I Paid 8 Months Salaries, Arrears, Without Borrowing – Gov. Alex Otti

Four months of being in office as the Executive governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Otti has said, that he has paid 8 months salaries and arrears to workers in the state Civil Service.

The governor while noting that he is not interested in running an expensive government, revealed that he has paid salaries from June 2023 till September and backlogs from February 2023  to May, without borrowing money.

“As we took over, I paid June salary and May with one month allocation.

“In July, I paid July and April; In August, I paid August and March; In September; we paid September and February; we have finished paying. All these period, we have not borrowed money. I will pay everybody.

“I have my way of managing my expenditure within my income. We are not expensive” the governor said last week Thursday while speaking at Aba Sports Club.

He also noted that the Abia of everyone’s dream, would only be achieved with the collective effort of all Abians including residents, and therefore called on all to join hands in rebuilding Abia state.
