AFN AWARDS 2019: SIR UZOMA IHUKA, ABIA FACTS NEWSPAPER PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR 2019

Chief Sir Uzoma Ihuka has become a phenomenon and a central issue today not only in Uratta Umuohu Isiala Ngwa North, but across the length and breadth of the Abia State.

This President of Ngwa Patriots Forum has made a remarkable contributions in almost all the facets of life that one begins to wonder what manner of Man he is.

From a humble background, he set out early to achieve greatness and success for himself, but not without hard work and total commitment. Ihuka from his Tertiary education learnt the need to help the down trodden in the society and this he has continue to champion till today.

Before veering to the University of Calabar where he had his Post Graduate Diploma in Management, as well as Masters Degree in Business Administration, he had bagged a Higher National Diploma from the prestigious Federal Polytechnic Nekede in Owerri.

Chief Ihuka has indeed paid his dues both in the Private Enterprise and Public life.

PROFILE OF CHIEF SIR UZOMA IHUKA

Chief Uzoma Ihuka was born into the family of Ezeji John Ihuka of Uratta Umuoha in Isiala Ngwa North LGA.

He attended Ihie High school where he obtained his WASC. He holds a Higher National Diploma(HND) in Accounting from The Prestigious Federal Polytechnic Nekede in Owerri Imo State, Post Graduate Diploma in Mgt. from the University of Calabar as well as a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the same University. He is presently on the verge of concluding a Masters Degree in Public Finance and Taxation.

He started his working career with Union Bank of Nigeria Plc .

He then proceeded to The Nigerian Football Association as Personal Assistant to the Chairman (Late Air Commodore Emeka Omeruah) during the glorious days of Nigerian Football. He also served in the Ministry of Youth and Sports as PA to the Minister.

Chief Ihuka started his own business in 1999 after resigning from Omenec Group and God Almighty has been gracious to him.

He is currently the Chairman/CEO of Treasureland Group of Companies comprising of Treasureland hotels, Calabar, Jennybee Chemicals Portharcourt, Glorious Soccer Promotions Ltd, that has been tranfering many youthful football. Players to Europe in the last 21 years. He owns Nituz Engineering services ltd. and Treasureland Farms. The siting of Treasureland Farm in Uratta Isiala-Ngwa North was purely borne out of passion for creating sustainable development and empowerment for his community and the youth in general. The farm has employed more than 50 core indigenous staff and 10 local suppliers.

He is the Founder of Ihuka Foundation which have produced about 28 graduates, empowered so many youths with vehicles for transportation and vocational training.

He runs a yearly empowerment and giveaway programme for widows and this has been going on for about 20 years. He is presently building 4 units of four bedroom bungalow for four of his Constituents.

Chief Uzo is the former President of Ngwa Young Professionals Lagos, a member of various associations and professional bodies, and he is currently serving on the board of Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ASOPADEC) as a Commissioner as well as President of Ngwa Patriots Forum.

He is happily married with 3 children.

His motto remains Poised for Progress, Unity of Purpose and Development in Igbo land.
