Delta Govt to kick off free training for community Nurses, Midwives

The Delta State Ministry of Health said it has put modalities in motion to commence training for community nursing and midwifery programmes for Deltans.

 

A statement from the Ministry of Health, said interested candidates are to go through their communities and local government councils for their names to be forwarded to the Ministry of Health.

The statement said while names have already been received from some local government councils, any candidate who has paid money for forms should go back to whoever they paid to for immediate refund as the form is to be issued without any form of payment.

According to the statement, the programme is an initiative of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria to provide skilled human resources at the primary health care level and reduce maternal and child mortality, particularly in the rural communities.

It said the programme is designed to produce a competent cadre of nursing and midwifery practitioners who would on the completion of their training be resident within the communities that nominated them to provide basic health care service needs of the rural and hard-to-reach communities in the state.
