2 Special Advisers quit Gov Fubara’s cabinet in Rivers state

Two special advisers of Governor Siminalayi Fubara have turned in their resignation letters as of Friday morning.

This follows the resignation of about eight commissioners in the governor’s cabinet.

The gale of resignations is believed to be a fallout of the ongoing struggle for political control in Rivers between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who is now the Minister of FCT.

Some sources claimed that the special advisers, like the commissioners, resigned in solidarity with and on the instruction of Wike.

They cited several reasons ranging from “personal principles, other commitments and conscience” for their decisions to dump the Fubara administration.

They are Chima Aguma, special adviser to the governor on aviation and
Marshall Obuzor, special adviser to the governor on new media.

There are also speculations that the gale of resignation from the Fubara cabinet will continue.

This, according to speculations, was because the FCT Minister had asked his loyalists in Fubara’s cabinet to quit and move to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

This followed the defection of 27 lawmakers loyal to Wike from PDP to APC in Rivers House of Assembly on Monday.
