Death Toll In Plateau Rise As Cholera Goes On Rampage

The death toll in Plateau state, have continued to increase as a result of Cholera outbreak which has gone on rampage in the state and other states in Nigeria.

The Chairman of state house committee on health, Philip Dasun during plenary on Wednesday August 11, shared an epidemiology data which revealed that the state had recorded a total of 1,415 infections with the disease spreading to all local governments in the state except Mikang LGA.

He revealed that Jos north has the highest number of cases (599), followed by Jos south with 423 and Bassa with 151.

Other local governments are; Bokkos, 58; Barkin Ladi, nine; Riyom, 14; Jos East, 20; Wase, 26; Langtang North, 23; Kanam, 41; Qua-anpan, two; Shendam, 30; Mangu, one; Langtang South, two; Kanke, nine; and Pankshin, seven.

However 28 deaths toll in the state were recorded in eight LGAs; Jos North, five; Jos South, six; Bassa, seven; Bokkos, three; Shendam, one; Kanam, three; Pankshin, one, and Wase, one.

Dasun concluded by calling for more effort in curbing the spread of the disease.
