The Speaker of the Abia House of Assembly has clarified that legal restrictions and political complexities are the reasons for the delay in Uzodike Aaron’s swearing-in. Efforts are being made to resolve the issue.
In response to reports from various media houses concerning the swearing-in of Uzodike Aaron of Aba North State constituency, the Office of the Speaker of the Abia House of Assembly has issued a press release to clarify the situation.
Rt Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa, the Speaker of the Abia House of Assembly, addresses the issue as follows:
Legal Restrictions: The delay in the swearing-in of Uzodike Aaron as a member of the 8th Abia House is due to ongoing legal restrictions. These restrictions have prevented the Speaker from proceeding with the scheduled induction.
Political Solution: During a press conference last Thursday in Umuahia, Speaker Rt Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa assured that plans are underway to find a political solution to resolve the complexities surrounding Uzodike’s swearing-in.
Adherence to Court Rulings: The Speaker is not defying the ruling of the Court of Appeal nor is he responsible for the current situation. He is legally incapacitated from carrying out the swearing-in due to the aforementioned legal constraints.
Addressing Misinterpretations: Those promoting anger or a campaign of calumny against the Speaker via social and electronic media may not fully understand the complexities of the law, or they might be intentionally ignoring these intricacies.
Opposition Intrigues: The misinterpretation of the situation might be a deliberate strategy by the opposition to mislead the public with falsehoods and unguided statements.
The Speaker, therefore, remains free from any blame regarding Uzodike’s political challenges. Efforts are being made to address the situation within the bounds of the law.
