(UMEH KALU): PDP, Abraham Amah Reacts To Court’s Summon Over Alleged Defamation Of Character
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia state and Elder Abraham Amah, the party’s state Vice Chairman cum Acting State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, have responded to a writ of summons from a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), sitting in Abuja over an alleged character defamation.
ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER (AFNEWS), had reported that the court issued a writ of summons to Abia PDP and Abraham Amah following the expiration of a notice of suit served them by the complainant, Chief Umeh Kalu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and a former Attorney General of Abia state.
Kalu in the notice of suit had alleged that Amah in his publication titled; “UMEH KALU’S VERY UNPROFESSIONAL CONDUCT AND INTERFERENCE IN THE ONGOING ABIA ELECTION PETITION TRIBUNAL” suggested that he is an impostor, a mischief maker and documents forger.
He had demanded for an apology from Amah to be published on two national dailies, a retraction of the said publication and N500,000,000 million damages to be paid collectively by Abia PDP and Amah.
Speaking to AFNEWS on the new development, Abraham Amah who spoke on his behalf and that of the PDP, stated that they were yet to receive the writ of summons issued by the High Court.
He noted that once they are served with the writ of summons, they will act accordingly within thirty days of receipt, adding that the PDP is a responsible political organisation and would not be intimidated by anybody.
In Amah’s words;
“We are waiting for the writ of summons and will act appropriately within thirty days of receipt of writ. The PDP is a responsible political organization that can never be intimidated by anybody. Our actions are usually tailored in good faith. Those who have failed to act appropriately can not cajole our intelligence and make us succumb to cowards. Ultimately cosmic law must fulfil.”
