Singer, Portable Disqualified From Headies Award, He Reacts | WATCH VIDEO
Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, have been disqualified as a nominee in the 2022 Headies Award.
According to the organisers of the event, Portable who was nominated in the Best Street Artiste and Rookie of the Year categories, was disqualified because of controversial issues trailing the artiste. READ HERE
Recall that Portable had claimed to be the founder of some notorious cult groups in Lagos state. He had refuted the claim after the Inspector General of Police ordered the state police commissioner to investigate the matter.
Announcing his disqualification in a statement on Tuesday, July 26, organisers of Headies Award said;
“We regret to announce that following numerous indicting statements made by Mr. Habeeb Okikiola popularly known as “Portable”, and the incessant negative attention that Mr Okikiola has garnered from the Nigeria Police and the general public in recent times, the organisers of the Headies have resolved to disqualify Mr Okikiola as a nominee at the forthcoming 15th Headies Awards.
“Being subject of an investigation relating to criminal activities, Mr Habeeb Okikiola is hereby disqualified from both categories of awards at the forthcoming 15th Annual Headies Awards scheduled to hold later this year.”
Meanwhile, Portable has reacted to his disqualification.
