Soldiers on Tuesday, July 13, held shoppers hostage in the popular Abia Mall in Umuahia the capital city.
According to witnesses, the soldiers who were on mufti drove into the mall in a RAV 4 vehicle, parked at the lot and walked into the shopping hall.
Emerging out of the hall, the soldiers reportedly raised alarm, alleging that their vehicle had been vandalized and money worth N200,00 stolen.
They were said to have called for reinforcement and their colleagues immediately arrived at the shopping outlet in a Toyota Hilux vehicle.
They also insisted that nobody would leave the premises or enter until the culprit was caught using the Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Camera.
The shoppers were reportedly held at the mall from 4:40pm to about 6:30pm.
