The Senator representing Bauchi North senatorial district, Adamu Muhammad Bulkachuwa while addressing a valedictory session of the 9th Assembly, confessed that he influenced the decisions of his wife, Zainab Bulkachuwa, a retired Justice of the Appeal Court to favor some of his colleagues.

Bulkachuwa in the video which has now gone viral, said he encroached on his wife’s freedom and independence in a bid to help his friends in the senate. He was however, interrupted by Ahmad Lawan, now former senate president.

“…….particularly my wife, whose freedom and independence I encroached upon when she was in office, and she has been very tolerant and accepted my encroachment and extended her help to my colleagues,” Bulkachuwa said.

He also stated that he was glad that he messed up APC in Bauchi state.

Zainab Bulkachuwa retired from the bench after clocking the statutory retirement age of 70 years for justices of the Appeal Court in 2020.

Reacting to the video, Professor Ndubuisi Ekekwe, on his verified Twitter handle on Monday, wrote;

“Unbelievable that a senator whose wife was the president of the court of appeal could brag how he influenced her decisions. He embarrassed the Senate president by revealing the open truth about Nigeria’s judiciary. We must give Senator Bulkachuwa a national award as a whistleblower of the month. Hope retired Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa will give a press release on how she was influenced! What a nation.”
