WATCH VIDEO (PROTEST): “Reinstate Darlington Nwokocha” – Abia Central Electorates To Appeal Court
The electorates of Abia Central Senatorial district, on Monday, took to the streets of Umuahia, protesting the court of appeal’s ruling, sacking their representative, Senator Darlington Nwokocha of the Labour Party.
The electorates maintained that they massively voted for Senator Darlington Nwokocha who won all the six Local Government Areas including that of his opponent, Colonel Austin Akobundu’s (retd) LGA, Ikwuano during the February 25, 2023 general election.
“Senator Darlington Nwokocha won massively across the 6 Local Government Areas of Abia central, 64 Wards, and almost all the over 1000 polling units”
“Nwokocha won Akobundu in his LGA, ward and all the polling units in Abia central senatorial district” the electorates said.
They called on the court of appeal and the Nigeria Judicial Council (NJC), to review the judgement and reinstate Darlington Nwokocha, noting that he is their choice candidate.
Addressing the protesters on their arrival at the Abia state Labour Party secretariat, the state party chairman pleaded with them to maintain peace and order, assuring that their request will get to the appropriate authorities.
