BURSTED: Alex Otti’s Newly Appointed SA On IGR ‘Okigbo’, Accused Of Fraud By Anambra Govt | SEE DOCUMENTS
The newly appointed Special Adviser (SA) on Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) to Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, Mr. Chimereze Isaac Okigbo , has been accused of fraudulently diverting revenue generated in Anambra State through Point of Sales (PoS).
Okigbo allegedly diverted revenue to private accounts, using PoS setup for revenue collection in Anambra state during his time as the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor of Anambra State on Internally Generated Revenue and Digital Transformation.
A letter signed by Christian C. Madubuko, PhD, the Executive Director, Operations and other Taxes in Anambra State, dated June 6th, 2023, and addressed to Mr Chimereze Okigbo, said Okigbo totally refused to cooperate with investigations which has now revealed that he set up numbers of PoS to divert revenue.
The letter added that Okigbo made away with a laptop belonging to the Anambra state Board of Internal Revenue to restrict the Board from having access to valuable data and document.
According to Madubuko, the case will be handed over to the police for further investigation and possible prosecution.
“We are also aware that you intend to commence a similar job having left to Abia under the guise of taking up a new appointment rather than the truth of your circumstances of leaving Anambra (occasioned by the fraud investigation and imminent arrest).
“We wish to state clearly that such an arrest should not be seen as an affront to your new employers (Abia state government), but as a direct consequence to your activities here in Anambra state” the letter read in part.
Efforts made by ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER (AFNEWS), to reach Mr. Chimeremeze Isaac Okigbo failed as he did not take his calls nor respond to messages sent to him as at the time of filing this report.
