In a heartfelt tribute, the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja. The General’s death, announced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has left the nation in mourning. Governor Otti described the Army Chief’s death at 56 as both shocking and untimely, emphasizing that his leadership was deeply valued, especially during these critical times for Nigeria.
Governor Otti shared that he had a close personal relationship with General Lagbaja, noting that the cooperation between his administration and the Army Chief brought significant gains in enhancing peace and security in Abia State. “This loss is profound,” Governor Otti said, “as General Lagbaja was a steadfast figure committed to safeguarding the peace and stability we worked hard to achieve in Abia.”
