Nigerian Senate Shutdown, Adjourns Plenary Till June 7 | READ WHY
The Nigerian Senate on Wednesday shutdown activities, adjourning till June 7, to allow members to participate in party primaries and other engagements leading to the 2023 general elections.
Speaking during the plenary session, the President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan, said the adjournment is necessary to allow lawmakers the opportunity to pursue their electoral goals.
Lawan urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to be fair in conducting the upcoming.
He also asked the Commission to ensure that the integrity of the exercise is not called to question, noting the need for all hands to be on deck towards a peaceful election.
He further extended good wishes to colleagues running elective positions,
