Nigeria to domesticate Chinese railway technology – Ameachi

The Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi says, there is the need to domesticate what the Chinese are doing in the Nigeria railway system by making sure Nigerians are trained in all aspect of railway construction and maintenance.

Amaechi was speaking at Gregory University, Uturu in Isuikwuato LGA of Abia State while laying the foundation stone for the university’s Transport and Logistics Institute and the commissioning of the university’s College of Agriculture named after Prof. Julius Okogie, adding that it is poverty and hunger that drives kidnapping in the country.

According to him, this was because the poor thinks that the elites “have accumulated much resources” and therefore are using force to collect some from the elites.

He promised to accommodate the university scholars when the Chinese will come around the South with their railway system.

In his commencement speech later at the university’s 8th matriculation ceremony, the Transport Minister admonished the matriculating students to trust in God, be prayerful and work hard to succeed.

Earlier while conducting the minister at the stone-laying and commissioning of the. buildings, the Chancellor of Gregory University, Uturu, Prof. Gregory Ibe explained that the university’s Transport and Logistics Institute will offer expert fabrication of materials, adding that the institute will change the face of engineering.
