Two robbers who specialize in robbing Point of Sales (PoS) operators of their money and other valuables in Akwa Ibom, on Wednesday, met their end in the Uyo Metropolis.
According to report, the incident happened at about 10:30am, when two robbers on motorcycle tried to overpower a female PoS attendant who was dispensing cash to customers at Ikot Oku Ikono, near the newly commissioned fly-over bridge.
Nemesis caught up with the robbers who had succeeded in snatching the lady’s bag, as their motorcycle refused to start after the operation.
An eyewitness identified as Nyenime Effiong told journalists that;
“They thought their operation would be swift, but it turned to be end-of-the-road for them. They arrived on motorcycle and the one on the passenger seat alighted and suddenly accosted the POS operator with gun and demanded for cash.
“She immediately screamed at the sight of gun, and released her purse. But their motorcycle refused to kick. Then some commercial mini-bus and keke drivers with other angry youths trooped to the scene, chased the thieves and caught them.
The witness said the irate youths and others caught the robbers, hanged tyres on their neck, setting them ablaze before the arrival of policemen.
