The attempt by Obingwa Local Government Area to illegally collect Borehole Levies from residences in that LGA has burst as the approved levies for LGA’s have been made public by Abia State Government with Borehole levy not included.

The outburst  on social media may have led to the publication of the approved levies for LGAs.

The government also revealed that Abia State Internal Revenue Service Agency helps LGAs to collect and remit property, tenement and signage levies. They also made it clear that While some levies are fixed, in terms of amount payable per year, others are variable and require assessment to determine amount payable.

Abia State government finally advised against paying cash to any agent.
