Senator Dino Melaye’s political career faces uncertainty as the PDP suspends him over allegations of anti-party activities. Is this the end for Dino in politics? Find out more.
The Kogi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended former Senator Dino Melaye, citing alleged anti-party activities and misconduct. Melaye, who hails from Ayetoro Gbede, Ward 1, was suspended by the Ward executive committee after he failed to honor a summons issued by the party.
According to the Ward executives, Melaye’s suspension was due to actions deemed to have brought embarrassment and disrepute to the party. The decision was reached during a meeting of the Ward executive committee in Aiyetoro/Luagba Ward 1, where the disciplinary committee’s findings on Melaye’s conduct were reviewed. The Ward Chairman, Abayomi Osamika, and Secretary, Yodson Dayo, signed the resolution endorsing the suspension, which is in accordance with Article 59 (1) of the PDP Constitution.
The party accused Melaye of engaging in activities that undermine the interests of the PDP, thereby violating the principles and regulations guiding party members. His refusal to appear before the disciplinary committee to address these allegations further fueled the decision to suspend him. This suspension raises questions about his future in the party and its implications for his political career.
