Abia Govt Sets Date To Stop Salaries Of Unverified Workers | READ MORE

The Abia State Government has warned that workers in the state civil service who are yet to get verified, will no longer receive salaries by ending of November, 2023.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Prince Okey Kanu while briefing the Journalists on the outcome of this week’s State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti on Monday.

Recall that in July, 2023, the administration of governor Alex Otti ordered for verification of civil servants and pensioners in line with the reformation process.

Owing to the hitches encountered in the verification exercise, it was extended by extra two weeks away from the initial deadline.

However, the state government regrets that many workers were yet to get verified.

According to the commissioner for information, names of unverified staff had been put up in the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

Kanu added that workers yet to be verified, are expected to submit their documents to their heads of establishments, who would in turn hand over the same to the verification committee.

“We expect that everybody that is a staff in the State ought to have been verified. We have a good number of people that haven’t done that. Some didn’t appear at all, some did and could not complete for various reasons”, he said.
