In the governor’s words;
‘Local government elections will be organized. We are just four months. The first thing is to appoint a Transition Committee and it will lead to a Local Government election. We Don’t have a time table yet, but it will be done.”
Recall that few months to leave office, the immediate past governor of the state, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu and the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC) fixed Friday, May 19, 2023 to hold a Local Government election which received kicks.
Two court orders barred ABSIEC from conducting that election.
