[PHOTOS] ABIA: “Southeast, A Pillar For Nigeria’s Development” – Hon. Sam Onuigbo Says, Distributes PISE-P Palliatives

Hon. Sam Onuigbo, a representative of the south east in the Board of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), has made case for the harnessing of potentials in the south east, describing the region as a critical pillar for the development of Nigeria.

Onuigbo who represented Ikwuano-Umuahia federal constituency in the 9th National Assembly, while distributing food palliatives and cash gift in Ikwuano local government area of Abia State on Tuesday, courtesy of the Peace in South-East Project (PISE-P), said it is the duty of everyone to ensure that violence is defeated and peace is brokered in the region despite party affiliations.

He stated this in Ikwuano local government area of Abia State on Tuesday, during the distribution of food items, a project of Peace in South-East Project (PISE-P) initiated by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu to enhance peace in the region.

Onuigbo noted that the PISE-P food palliative distribution is in line with president Bola Tinubu’s agenda of ensuring food security in the country.

In his words;

“The South-East is a critical pillar for the development of Nigeria. Therefore, we must do everything possible to ensure that we harness the immense potentials of the region and its people.

“Today, we are gathered here to distribute foodstuff to the great people of Ikwuano Local Government Area. This is an essential pillar of PISE-P and is in line with Mr. President’s commitment to ensuring food security in the country. Addressing the issue of hunger is a critical first step in dousing anger and consequently ensuring that violence is reduced and peace upheld.

We are therefore committed to ensuring that the age-long Igbo tradition of whoever is best placed takes care of others in the community is revived and entrenched.”

Food items distributed includes;

100 cartoons of spaghetti , 100 pieces of wrapper, 250 bags of 10kg Rice ,5 bags of beans , 5 bags of garri, 2 cartoons of groundnut oil and five hundred thousand naira (#500,000) cash gifts to 10 wards in Ikwuano LGA.

Speaking on behalf of the people, Hon. Chief Tony Mpama appreciated the deputy speaker, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu for initiating the PISE-P project, Onuigbo and the Federal Government for the palliatives.

Mpama lauded Onuigbo for the projects he attracted while in office, however, he charged him to ensure that the Ikwuano- Ikot Ekpene road is be completed.
