Prof. Uche Ikonne’s Congratulatory Message To Greg Ibe, Stanley Ihesiaba Replies
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Abia state, Professor Uche Ikonne has come under fire for allegedly mocking his All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) counterpart, Professor Gregory Ibe in his ‘congratulatory message on his safe return from medical trip abroad.’
Professor Ikonne in his congratulatory message mentioned that if elected, “medical tourism for most specific and life-threatening health conditions will be consigned to pages of history” under his administration.
Ikonne’s congratulatory message read;
On behalf of my family and the entire Uche Ndi Abia community, I Prof Uche Ikonne, hereby sincerely congratulate the Chancellor of Gregory University and the gubernatorial candidate of APGA, Prof Gregory Ibe, on his successful medical trip abroad.
In the spirit of true friendship, I wish you a quick and total recovery, Under my government in Abia state, medical tourism for most specific and life-threatening health conditions will be consigned to pages of history!
Responsing, Stanley Ihesiaba accused the PDP of wanting to project Professor Greg Ibe as unfit to govern Abia state come 2023.
Ihesiaba accused the PDP led administration of encouraging medical tourism with ‘it’s “zero performance” in the health sector of Abia state.
Stanley Ihesiaba in a statement titled;”PDP, Why mock Prof. Gregory Ibe? said;
I have just read a message from the Uche Ikonne Media Team where they were mocking Prof. Gregory Ikechukwu Ibe, the Gubernatorial Candidate of APGA in Abia State wherein they subtly announced to the world that the Distinguished Professor had travelled to overseas for “medical tourism”. The mockery even assured Prof. Ibe that in the very unlikely event that PDP wins the Governorship in Abia State, that sick people like Prof. Gregory Ibe will no longer travel overseas for medicals.
One wonders what PDP and their gang of wic-ked souls hope to achieve by sending this type of message to another Guber Candidate. Would it not have been better if they sent that message privately to Prof. Ibe. By advertising the man’s ill health, PDP wants to indirectly inform Abians that the APGA candidate is not fit and healthy enough to govern Abia State. Thank God this message has equally confirmed our conclusion that Okezie Ikpeazu scored zero in the health sector. There is no member of his administration that does not seek medical attention outside Abia.
PDP has no sh@me. If they do, they will not be talking about the health sector. This is an administration that has killed Abia State University Teaching Hospital (ABSUTH) and Aba General Hospital. In Abia, there is no functional General Hospital while the Primary Health Centres (PHCs) are shadows of their old selves. Doctors are on strike. Health workers are on strike. There are no drugs anywhere. Then, this w!cked government is mocking another for seeking medical attention elsewhere.
The only thing I can tell Ikonne and his master Ikpeazu is that the next time they are sick, let them go to the General Hospital in Abia next to them. Ikonne should transform his k1osk like eye clinic at Finbarrs Road Umuahia to world class first before promising us what his masters could not do for 23 years.
