The Minority Whip/Member Representing Arochukwu State Constituency in the Abia House of Assembly, Hon. Dr. Mike Ukoha on Saturday, 20th July 2019, visited the people of Abam Community for a Town Hall meeting as part of his campaign promise.
Speaking during the remarkable visit, Hon. Dr. Ukoha explained he embarked on the visit due to his love for Abam people, pointing out that he will continue to hold such meetings in future so as to familiarize himself with the situation on ground and identify problems in the community.
The Minority Whip used the medium to intimate the people that within the space of few weeks, he has been able to attract government attention to the crises in Isu Community, adding that soon, peace will return to them.
In their separate speeches, the President General, Abam Development Union, Dr. Egbuka who was represented by the Vice President, Sir Idika Okorie as well as the Secretary General, His Hon. Njoku highlighted on the challenges facing them to include restoration of electricity in the area and the resolution of their differences with the EEDC, the need to look into the herdsmen issue with the community, lack of access road to their farmland for evacuation of their farm produce, and youth unemployment among others.
In his reaction, the Vice President Abam Development Union, said that this is the first time a House Member will come to interact with them, and prayed God to enable him look into the issues identified by the people.
Highlights of the event includes those in attendance, such as all the 24 Ezeogos in Abam, women and youths and other notable dignitaries.
