The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the assault of a Nigerian diplomat in Indonesia.National Chairman, Uche Secondus said Nigerians are being humiliated abroad under President Muhammadu Buhari.
He urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) led government to sanction Indonesia over the treatment of the officer.
The opposition leader charged Nigeria to apply no constraints in responding to the situation.
In a statement, Secondus said no citizen deserved such treatment, noting that a foreign official represents the home country.
“These needless insults on Nigerians must stop. APC misrule has helped to aggravate this unfortunate development, we must protect our humanity in the comity of nations.”
Secondus called for expulsion of the Indonesian ambassador in Nigeria to serve as a commensurate punishment.
The PDP chair said the development buttressed the internal handling of rule of law in Nigeria by the Buhari administration.
He regretted that some actions of the government were not within the purview of decency and constitutional provisions.
Secondus told the Nigerian authorities to restore the dignity of nations abroad starting with the Indonesia case.
The party leader warned nations across the world against further humiliation of Nigerians.
