The new governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, has sent a signal to the immediate past governor of the state, Chief Rochas Okorocha, that the new government will probe his administration.
Gov. Ihedioha made this clear in his inaugural speech at Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, Imo State shortly after his swearing-in by the Chief Judge of the state, Hon. Justice Pascal Nnadi.
The new governor noted in his speech that so many individuals and groups have asked him the fate of those “who recklessly plundered our (Imo State) common wealth.” According to him as contained in his speech, “My answer is simple. They will be held accountable.”
The governor who said that his administration will not engage in witch-hunting, however vowed that “those who have held positions of authority must prepare to render account of their stewardship to the people because our resolve to hold their feet to the fire of probity and accountability is iron-clad.”
On the issue of alleged reckless and unlawful acquisition of lands by Gov. Okorocha and his family, the Imo State new governor said, “We shall also institute appropriate measures to review all land allocations made by the immediate past government, and of course, where necessary, revoke or revert to original purpose. I consider this an irreversible obligation to Ndi Imo.”
