Ugochukwu Mbakwe Foundation Distributes Food Items PPE’s To Indigent families In Amaogwugwu Community

Chief Ugochukwu Mbakwe on Saturday distributed food items and Personal Protective materials to his kinsmen in Amaogwugwu, Ohuhu in Umuahia North LGA of Abia State.

The donation which was done under the umbrella of his NGO “The Ugochukwu Mbakwe Development Foundation” distributed 25 bags of rice, 5 bags of beans, 250 tubers of yam, 10 cartons of tin tomatoes, 3 bags of salt and 200 pieces of face masks.

Making the donation Chief Mbakwe said the gesture was part of his foundations support to his immediate community to mitigate the hardship and challenges the lockdown order of the state government to contain the spread of Coronavirus pandemic has brought upon people in his community.

He added that the donation was also to palliate the economic hardship of the less-privileged in the society.

He said “It has become imperative for me as someone who cares for his people to support the efforts of the government in helping to cushion the harsh effects of the pandemic in my community”.

”We are all aware that the government cannot do it all and it behoves on us to individually assist the government in providing the necessary palliatives in order to ensure that while our people who are locked down at home especially the poor and the less privileged does not die of hunger” Chief Mbakwe said.

The Philanthropist and community leader commended the efforts of the state government in curtailing the spread of the pandemic and advised that people should please observe all government protocols, by observing social distancing, washing our hands with soap and running water, avoid touching our nose, eyes and mouth, use hand sanitizers, avoid handshakes and please go to the hospital if you experience difficulty in breathing or high fever, he also told them that covid-19 is not a death sentence and that those who survived and are surviving the virus attack are far greater in number than the actual death rate.

He expressed optimism that very soon this pandemic will be over and we will all return to our normal life style, in an interaction with newsmen, the business man and secretary general Amaogwugwu Federated Union revealed that his foundation has plans to attract infrastructural development to the community and stated the need for unity within the community.
