The member-elect for the Bende Federal Constituency in the just concluded National assembly election, Barrister Benjamin Okezie Kalu has promised not to only be a powerful voice, but to be also a weeping voice at the green chambers of the national assembly.
Barrister Okezie Kalu who made some revelations about his further plans for his constituents while fielding questions from newsmen, said “Like Dee Sam Mbakwe who was known to be the weeping governor, I Benjamin Okezie Kalu want to be known as the weeping Representative from Bende. The point is that if it takes weeping to make sure that the dividends of democracy is delivered to my people, I would want to have such identity.”
“One of the critical things I would want to be known for is that I want to be the one who will never celebrate any victory due to what happened at the polls, I will want to celebrate when my people who travel long distance to get potable water can get water running in their homes, when low cost houses are built in my constituency, for those living in shacks to have access to quality houses,” he said.
On his plans for his people, the member elect said his plan on agriculture is to help create value and end products for the crops from the farms, also to create feeder roads and infrastructures that will reduce the destruction of farm produce, a major challenge faced by his people. He also assured the people of helping them gain access to government initiatives, policies and programs that will enable them increase their productivity.
On education Barrister Kalu said “We will also not allow our Methodist college in Uzuakoli and Teachers Training College (TTC) fail; I will revive them so as to improve the standard of learning among our younger ones. Gone are the days when our people leave home to other places to enhance their chances of making good results in certificate exams. Benjamin Kalu will restore the dignity of our people.
” I will not celebrate victory until we have achieved our cardinal aims and objectives. As a matter of fact, I have not dismantled my campaign organization, I am going to use it as my community development agency, to ensure that I get to the grassroots.”
