Governor Alex Otti has assured Abians that his administration remains dedicated to fulfilling all campaign promises, with a focus on infrastructure development and welfare. Speaking at a recent church event, Otti highlighted ongoing progress and pledged not to disappoint the people of Abia.
Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has reiterated his unwavering commitment to fulfilling all his campaign promises, assuring the people of the state that his administration will not fall short of their expectations. Speaking at the 70th birthday and 44th wedding anniversary celebration of Sir and Lady Ibeh, held at St. Finbars Catholic Church on Bende Road in Umuahia North LGA, Governor Otti provided insights into the progress his government has made and the challenges that lie ahead.
Reflecting on his administration’s performance so far, Governor Otti acknowledged that while Abia is not yet where he envisions it to be, significant progress has been made since he assumed office. “We have just done 14 months, and it is still early morning. Everything we promised during the campaign, we will fulfill. We are not where we want to be, but we have left where we used to be,” Otti stated, underscoring his administration’s dedication to continuous improvement.
One of the key highlights of his speech was the visible facelift given to Umuahia, the state capital. The governor noted that numerous potholes on various roads within the capital have been fixed, significantly easing traffic congestion. Additionally, he pointed out that the entrance to the state capital from Abia Tower has been aesthetically enhanced to reflect the status of a state capital.
Emphasizing the welfare of Abians as a priority, Governor Otti reminded the congregation that his administration has cleared the backlog of arrears owed to pensioners by previous governments. He proudly shared that pensioners now receive their payments alongside civil servants, who are paid on or before the 28th of every month. “One thing you can take to the bank is that this government will not disappoint you,” Otti declared, reinforcing his promise to prioritize the people’s welfare.
The governor also expressed his gratitude to the church for their continuous support and for being a pillar in the quest for purposeful change in the state. The officiating minister, Rev. Fr. Chukwudi Anya PhD, praised Governor Otti as a divine gift to Abia State, highlighting that the governor’s achievements, though often understated, are evident across the state.
The event was well attended by notable personalities, including Hon. Amaobi Ogah, Member representing Isiukwuato/Umunnechi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives; Hon. Obi Aguocha, Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South in the Federal House of Representatives; Rt. Hon.
