Argentine football star, Lionel Messi has revealed he needs more time to recover before returning to the pitch after contracting Covid-19 earlier this month.
The 34-year old Paris Saint-German star, Messi had tested positive for Covid-19 during the holidays. He was confirmed positive on the second day of January before flying back to France’s capital city, Paris on January 5, 2021.
The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner who has missed two PSG matches also revealed his recovery has taken longer than he had thought.
The Argentine captain disclosed he was already training to get back to 100% fitness ahead of the challenges the new year may bring.
“As you know I had Covid and I wanted to thank you all for the messages I received,
It has taken me longer than I thought to be OK but I’m almost recovered and I’m looking forward to getting back on the field.
“I’m training to get back to being at 100%, great challenges are coming this year and I hope we can see each other again”
Club teammates including Angel Di Maria, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Julian Draxler have also tested positive for coronavirus since the Christmas break
