The member representing Ikwuano State Constituency, Hon Stanley Nwabuisi has lamented on the outrage caused by the boundary dispute between people of Ariam Usaka Ukwu in Ikwuano LGA, and people of Ini LGA , in Akwa Ibom state.
The honorable member raised the alarm on the floor of Abia State House of Assembly Plenary on Tuesday, March 9.
Hon Nwabuisi mentioned that lives and properties were lost and destroyed in Ariam Usaka Ukwu, adding that 28 lives had been lost in the crisis.
The lawmaker noted that the people of Ariam are law abiding since they have halted all forms of retaliation against their Akwa Ibom counterparts.
He prayed the house to charge security personnel’s in the state to act swiftly to ensure a stop in the killings of Abians.
He also urged the House Committee on Land Boundary Commission, to seek for ways of averting further crisis.
Responding, the speaker, Rt Hon Chinedum Orji, regretted the actions meted out on lives and properties by the conflicting parties, which according to him, could be resolved amicably.
He assured that the state government will no longer tolerate the gruesome murder of its citizens in the name of any crisis.
The speaker further charged the Abia State government to liaise with the government of the neighboring state, to find a lasting solution to the current attacks in Ikwuano LGA.
