The battled declared by the Umudiawa people of Ibeku east to stop Hon. Chukwudi Apugo the incumbent member representing Umuahia-East state constitutency from returning to the Abia state house of assembly seem too far to be abated despite the intervention from different political quarters.
On Sunday the Amaoforo and Ndume people in Ibeku east state constituency that made up the Umudiawa met in a crucial meeting at Ibiza Resort to discuss moves and review strategies meant to stop Honourable Chukwudi Apugo from returning to the house of assembly in 2019, also joined in the meeting are the Eke connect comprising of six villages namely, Umuajiji, Okwuta, Ajata Isieke, Okwoyi, Ukome and Ihe Isieke.
In the meeting the people insisted that the rights of the Umudiawa people must be respected and that Hon. Chukwudi Apugo will give way for someone from the Umudiawa bloc to represent Ibeku East.
They stated that the struggle is not partisan but based on equity and the rights of a people and therefore they will align with any political party that fields a candidate from Umudiawa to ensure that PDP and Hon. Chukwudi Apugo is stopped.
They said that they are aware of the desperate plot by Hon. Apugo to resort to vote buying and rigging and therefore they have adopted as part of their strategy to go house by house and educate the Umudiawa, and the Eke connect electorates especially women and youths not to sell their rights but to vote for a candidate from the Umudiawa bloc, stating that very soon they will disclose their preferred candidate, but for them its anybody but Hon. Apugo we are waiting for him at the polls.

Addressing the press after the meeting Hon. Obasi said this battle is not personal but it is based on equity and justice and therefore they will not relent until justice is done and equity is s erved, he threatened that they are aware of the boastings of Hon. Apugo and they are waiting for him, we will give it to him in any style he so chooses we are prepared
