ABIA SDP DISOWNS PARTY LGA CHAIRMEN OVER ENDORSEMENT OF IKPEAZU

The Social Democratic Party, SDP, in Abia State has distanced itself from the 17 local government area party chairmen who left their party to endorse the candidacy of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and incumbent governor, Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu.
While speaking to Newsmen at the state secretariat of the party in Umuahia, the chairman of the party in the state, Sir Chidi Nwosu, described the p chairmen as ‘feather weight politicians’ who could not deliver votes for the party in the just-concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections which held few weeks ago.
Sir Nwosu who spoke in an interaction with newsmen said “Our gubernatorial candidate, Dr Mrs Blessing Nwagba, is committed to the race and is still much in it.”
He furthermore said ” When we were doing a review of the performance of the party in the just concluded elections, we held a meeting where we reviewed the performance of the party, we found the chairmen incompetent because they couldn’t deliver, they couldn’t present result sheets from the 4,062 polling Units and 184 Wards where elections held.
“The party was already taking a decision to sweep them away. And if what they have done is to jump out through the window, they have done that hastily.
“I am unequivocally reinstating that the SDP is committed to lifting Abia from the doldrums. The PDP is a failing party, their performance in the just concluded election was terrible, we know their scorecard. The SDP cannot align with an administration that has failed Abians. Anyone doing that is doing so for a spoon of porridge.
“Those who you heard left, we’re promised one million naira each. Instead of the governor wasting such money, he should use it to pay the backlog of salaries and pension arrears he is owing the people.”
