A Save Our Soul Message has gone to the Abia State government as well as well-meaning Abians to intervene in the lawlessness that is going on in Okwuta Ibeku Autonomous Community in Umuaha North L.G.A of the State.

The Traditional Ruler of Okwuta Ibeku, His Royal Highness Eze Dan Egbeogu who raised the alarm while interacting with news men in his palace, explained that some group of persons in the community are planning to take over the reign of affairs in the community when it is obvious that the tenure of the present led executives of Okwuta Development Union has not finished, hinting that it was lawlessness for those depraved individuals to take over the leadership by force.

The Okwa Ukwu Ezenma 11 further stated that when the issue came up, he led the executive of the community to meet with the State Commissioner of Police Mr. Ene Okon whom ever since, has done nothing to bring the issue under control.

The royal father lamented that these lawlessness led to the locking up of the community’s hall by those group of people who never meant well for the community just as they machete one Eberechi Elijah his personal assistant who tried to confront then in their unholy activities, which also led to his younger Sister being beaten to a pulp by some of the irate boys they mobilized to cause mayhem in the community.

He decried the nonchalant attitude displayed by the Commissioner of Police over the matter, stating that such made him to further report the issue to the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 9 Umuahia who is at present looking into the matter in a bid to finding lasting solution to it.

When asked if the State government if aware of the happening in his domain, Eze Egbeogu hinted that he has since briefed the State Deputy Governor who has promised to do something about it, adding that he wants the public to know what is happening and how the State Commissioner of Police is taking side in the issue that borders on tradition of the land.

He stated that Okwuta people must follow the constitution of the community in electing their leaders and must not be foisted on them by those who never mean well for the progress of the community.

When the Police Public Relations Officer was contacted to react to this, his mobile phone was not reachable as at the time of filing this report.
