MEDIA BRIEF ON ABIA STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MEETING OF FRIDAY, 11TH DECEMBER, 2020, HELD AT THE BANQUET HALL OF GOVERNMENT HOUSE, UMUAHIA

Members of Abia State Executive Council (EXCO) met on Friday, 11th November, 2020, under the Chairmanship of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, PhD, and resolved as follows:

1. That the state ministry of works endeavor to see to the completion of the following active Infrastructure projects within the current dry season window as relevant contractors have been mobilized to site:

-Osisioma Interchange (Flyover), Aba
-Reconstruction of Aba-Owerri Road, Aba (Segment 2)
-Reconstruction of Osusu Road, Aba
-Re-asphalting of Okigwe Road, Aba
-Reconstruction of Milverton Road, Aba
-Palliative maintenance work along Ikot-Ekpene Road, Aba
-Reconstruction of Ohanku Road, Aba
-Reconstruction of Obohia Road (Aba South/Ukwa East)
-Reconstruction of Ngwa Road, Aba
-Reconstruction of Ururuka Road, Aba
-Construction of Umuene-Obikabia Road, Isiala Ngwa South
-Reconstruction of Mgboko – Okpu Umuobo Road, Aba
-Reconstruction of Ossah –Ohuru Road, Umuahia
-Reconstruction of Immaculate Avenue, Aba
-Reconstruction of Umuojima – Ekeakpara Express Road, Osisioma
– Reconstruction of Osisioma –Ekeakpara Federal road, Aba
– Reconstruction of Ahaba-Umueze (ABSUTH) Road, Aba
-Reconstruction of Ikputu-Nbawsi Road, Isiala Ngwa South
-Reconstruction of Mbubo – Azuiyi Oloko – Umuakwu Road, Isiala Ngwa North/Ikwuano
-Reconstruction of cluster of Umuobiakwa internal roads
-Construction of Ntalakwu – Ikwuano Road, Ikwuano LGA
-Re-asphalting of segments of Aba Road, Umuahia
-Construction of internal roads at Federal Medical Center, Umuahia
-Construction of Umuopara Ring Road
-Construction of Agbama Housing Estate ring road, Umuahia
-Construction of Isuochi Nneato Road
-Completion of Eze Kanu Road Spur, Afara Ukwu, Umuahia
-Construction of Afara Nta Road, Umuahia
-Construction of Mgbarakuma Road, Umuahia
-Reconstruction of selected internal roads in Amuzukwu, Umuahia

2. Exco directed the Finance and General Purpose Committee (F&GPC) to review the contract for desilting, embankment and channelization of Aba River to enable it receive more storm water envisaged from the ongoing water management project in the Ndiegoro area of Aba.

3. Exco approved funding of the first phase of the Azumini Blue River Tourism Enhancement project.

4. Exco directed the contractor handling the new government house projection Umuahia to expedite work to enable the achievement of agreed milestones within specified timelines.

5. Exco directed security agencies in the state to ensure that all cult groups operating in the state are eradicated.
