Abia Government Sets Taskforce Against Illegal Operation Of Scrap Dealers, Waste Business
In an effort to scrutinize and streamline the activities of scavengers in Abia state, the Association of Scrap and Waste Resources (ASWR) in the state have called on scrap traders, dump owners to participate in identification and enumeration process.
Mr Chibuike said the exercise is in line with state government directive in check mating the activities of some criminal elements in scrap business.
The chairman urged the security agencies to help in enforcing government policy and directives of scrap and waste dealers in the state.
Due to the zeal, passion and desire to sanitize the Abia Scrap dealers, the chairman of ASWR Mr. Chibuike Okorie provided two shuttle buses that will be used by the Taskforce and Monitoring Team.
The two-shuttle bus was presented to the Commissioner for Trade, Commerce, and Industry Hon. Chimezie Ukaegbu to enable the taskforce carry out their task effectively.
According to Hon. Chimezie Ukaegbu, the state will swing into action from 20th March 2024 to ensure that the state directive is been adhered to and any dealer without verification pass license are liable to face penalties from the state taskforce.
In conclusion, Mr Chibuike advised all scrap dealers in the state to participate in data verification through their various local government representative.
