According to governor Ikpeazu, one billion naira will be spent on procuring equipment for the centre.
Speaking on an AFTELEVISION Programme ‘Focal Point’ on Thursday, February 10, the Commissioner said the project which would house a Mother and Child Specialist Hospital, World class Doctor’s Suite, Kidney and cancer dialysis centre, was initiated to save patients from travelling outside the country seeking medical attention.
“We said since there is Over 6000 square metres of land within that Aba General Hospital, instead of making it just a General Hospital, let’s raise it to a Health Village. A Health Village is made up of hostels where VIP’s ; weather consultants, doctors from abroad or anywhere, can stay for an elongated time and render their services; and the so called big men, instead of flying up and down, can equally move in there and get the type of ambiance they need. At the Health Village, you have the school of nursing already there; all we need is to upgrade the facilities which we are doing.
Then you have a cancer centre, a dialysis centre; it’s just a matter of bringing in those equipment to the doorstep of poor Abians” Chikamnayo said.
He noted that governor Ikpeazu has stabilized and revamped the primary health care services in the state, leading to increase in life expectancy, reduction in child and maternal death.
