Why We Will Rebuild N160m Demolished Kano Roundabout – Gov. Abba Yusuf | READ FULL DETAILS
The Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has revealed plans to reconstruct the government house roundabout which it demolished barely two weeks of assuming office.
ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER (AFNEWS), had reported that the Kano state government led by governor Abba Yusuf, on June 13, 2023, demolished the N160m worth of roundabout constructed in 2017 by the immediate past governor of the state, Abdullahi Ganduje.
According to Yusuf, the roundabout was demolished because;
- It was done with used foam work and too many sandy materials.
- The structure was too tall.
- It defaced the Government House’s main gate, and blocked the view for security surveillance.
- It posed traffic challenges because of its size.
Revealing plans to reconstruct the roundabout, Yusuf said his government resolved to relocate the roundabout to a more secure location at the Naibawa Flyover on the outskirts of Kano City.
Governor Abba Yusuf, during a meeting with the designer of the Golden Jubilee edifice, Kaltume Hana, added that;
“The decision to relocate the roundabout design was made after careful consideration of its aesthetic and cultural significance. The government aims to maintain the structure’s historical and artistic value while providing a safer and more suitable environment for its appreciation.
“The Kano state government is dedicated to fostering infrastructural development while preserving the rich cultural heritage of the region.
“This relocation is a testament to our commitment to preserving important cultural landmarks and promoting development in Kano State. We want to provide better projects for our citizens.”
Speaking, Hana said;
“I am immensely grateful to Governor Yusuf and the Kano State government for recognising the value of my design. It is an honour to see my work being preserved and given a new home.”
