Lady Blessing Chioma Benjamin Nwankpa, a distraught widow of late Ben Nwakpa of Mbgoko autonomous Community in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State, has cried out to relevant authorities to help her recover the corpse of her late husband who was exhumed from mother earth by her step son whom she described as a ‘strange son.
According to Lady Nwankpa, the ‘strange son’ one Mr Amaechi Ahuama otherwise known as Amaechi Nwankpa, recruited thugs who exhumed the already buried corpse of late Nwankpa on his burial day, December 28, 2022 and fled to an unknon destination with the corpse.
She lamented that the accused violated a court judgement ordering her to bury her late husband; fouled the presence of security operatives and elders who advised him against carrying out his proposed act and insisted on desecrating the corpse of her late husband.
She also accused the step son of making away with valuable documents of her late husband including his cell phone and also locked up the house which accordingto her was built by she and her late husband.
The US based widow called on the Abia state government, security operatives, elders and traditional ruler of Mgboko community and all advocates of peace and justice to help her retrieve the corpse of her late husband to allow him rest in peace.
“The elders, youths, women, police and the judiciary failed us. Where can we run to. This strange son chased I and my children away from the house that I and my husband built”.
“Please I am pleading with the government and stakeholders to help me find my husband”.
“My husband deserve to be resting peacefully in his grave he was a good man” she begged.
Speaking on behalf of his siblings, Victor Benjamin Nwankpa expressed shock at Amaechi’s attitude which he described as unexpected and a betrayal.
“We didn’t deserve this. Burying someone shouldn’t be this complex”.
“All effort made to resolve the matter peacefully failed as Amaechi was adamant on carrying on his illegal action” he said.
He demanded that Amaechi returns the father’s corpse and allow him rest in peace and also return the keys to the deceased’s properties.
In a telephone interview with our correspondent, the Traditional Ruler of Ike Mgboko Autonomous Community, Eze Onyedilazu, who expressed sadness over the issue, said they tried all they could to stop Amaechi from carrying out the dastardly act but he overpowered them because he contracted youths of the village, saying they are doing their best to ensure the corpse is returned, describing Amaechi as hard hearted.
