A 27-year-old Chibok School girl, Mary Nkeki, who was rescued recently, has expressed willingness to reunite with her ‘repentant’ Boko Haram terrorist husband identified as Adam.

Nkeki was rescued on August 14, 2023, by troops of 81 Task Force Battalion, Operation Hadin Kai Theatre Command during an operation into the terrorists’ enclave in Dikwa, Borno state.

Speaking to newsmen after she was handed over to the Borno State Ministry for Women Affairs, Nkeki said she got married to Adam and another fighter while in captivity and they gave birth to a girl child who later died.
According to her, she and Adam fled the terrorists’ camp as they were suffering. Nkeki said she and the repentant Adam ran to the Dikwa axis where they were rescued by troops and he was taken to a rehabilitation camp.
She added that she does not want to return to school nor get married to any other man except Adam.

‘’I already have a husband. I am married to Adam. We fled from captivity together.’’
“What I want to do now is to marry my husband that escaped with me. I don’t want to go back to school so as to avoid being abducted again as before. This is my 10th year in the hands of the terrorists. I married two different husbands during my captivity. We were suffering there until God gave us the opportunity to escape.
“My husband was formerly a Boko Haram fighter, but has now repented and surrendered. Two more Chibok schoolgirls are still in the place I escaped from. I gave birth to a baby girl to one of the fighters but she died after her birth,” Nkeki said.
Speaking earlier, the Theater Commander, Operation Hadin Kai, Maj. Gen. Gold Chibuisi, told newsmen on Monday, August 21, that Nkeki “is number 55 on the list of the abducted Chibok girls.”
“While in captivity she was forcefully married to one Adam, a Boko Haram terrorist.
“Since her rescue, she has undergone thorough medical examination in our medical facility. Equally, she has been adequately resuscitated and will be handed over to Borno state,” he said.
