What Will Influence Buhari’s Decision Concerning Nnamdi Kanu – AGF Malami
The Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister for Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), has revealed the factor that can influence President Muhammadu Buhari’s decision concerning leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
Malami who spoke on NTA’s morning show programme on Tuesday, January 4, said the President in his usual way will consider the interest of the public and not the interest of a section.
Recall that since Kanu was re-arrested, there have been several calls for his unconditional release.
Some leaders from the Igbo extraction had led a delegation to the president, who promised to consider their request.
Malami in his reaction said;
“By way of general statements to the two issues presented: the issue relating to Kanu and by extension, IPOB, what I can tell you for certain is that the decision of the President is based fundamentally and at all times on public interest consideration.
“In the art of governance and what I have come to learn about the mind and heart of the President, Muhammadu Buhari, is to consider the 200 million as against the limited people.
“By extension, the issue of Kanu, what would as well govern the decision of the President in terms of whatever request is presented is the public interest as against the limited sectional interest of it.”
