Murder Suspected in Death of AAUA Agronomy Student Modupe Ayandare
The death of Modupe Ayandare, a 500-level student of the Department of Agronomy at the Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba (AAUA), has raised murder suspicions.
FIJ learned the deceased was popularly known as Comrade Modesty and was an active member of the Rotaract Club at AAUA before her death.
In a video seen by FIJ, the lifeless body of the student was hung by a rope outside an uncompleted building.
While it seems the 500-level student may have committed suicide, some of the students who spoke to FIJ had contrasting opinions.
A student who does not wish to be named told FIJ that she heard Ayandare left a church vigil around 4 am on Monday and that was the last time anyone saw or heard from her until her lifeless body was found in an uncompleted building in Akungba later that morning.
“It does not look like she committed suicide. The whole thing looks like someone murdered her and made it look like suicide,” she said.

“This 500-level student of AAUA was found dead this morning in Akungba. She was said to have left a vigil around 4 am. The circumstances surrounding her death look very suspicious. Video and eyewitness accounts show that she did not commit suicide as presumed. I am calling on the OndoPoliceNG to critically investigate this matter, as this looks more like a case of murder.”

“Until her death, Rtr Modupe was a passionate volunteer, seasoned humanitarian and the President of the Rotaract Club of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba. This is so sad as Rotaract D9125 mourn. May all the perpetrators be brought to book. Rest in peace, dear partner.”
When FIJ contacted Odunlami Ibukun, the Ondo Police PRO, she confirmed the death, adding that investigations had commenced.
“A case of suicide was reported to the police. When our officer went to the scene, the corpse of the young lady was there. She dropped a suicide note in her bag. Further information revealed she went to church and left in the early hours of the day to return home before the incident occurred. We have commenced an investigation to unravel the mystery behind her death. The investigation would reveal the circumstances surrounding the death.”
