The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo (SAN) has said that the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), is leading the war against mass unemployment in Nigeria.
Keyamo who doubles as the Board Chairman, NDE, stated this during an empowerment programme in Jos, Plateau State capital.
The Minister who was represented by the Director-General, NDE, Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, noted that the rising cases of insecurity, banditry, and terrorism in Nigeria is basically as a result of unemployment.
However, he assured that the Federal Government was working to address the issue of terrorism and unemployment in the country.
The NDE in a statement on Sunday, December 19, quoted Keyamo as saying;
“You will all agree with me that unemployment is one of the remote causes of banditry, terrorism, corruption and other forms of criminality.
“Even though the Federal Government is working hard at check terrorism and all other forms of criminality and violent crimes, it is equally prosecuting the war against mass unemployment.
“I am proud that the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), whose board I am privileged to chair and also directly supervise, is effectively leading that war against mass unemployment.”
