SERIE A: Napoli Clears Air On Osimhen’s Fine
Italian Serie A heavyweight, Napoli has cleared the air on buzzing reports the side has placed a fine on its ace, Victor Osimhen.
The Nigerian International’s late return to his club duties after a rather disappointing International break has elicited extreme reactions from sportizens.
The striker was part of the Eguavoen-led team who fell to their counterparts, Ghana in a contest for a place at FIFA’s football festival.
After the Qatar heartbreak, it seemed the 23-year-old was up for another bolt of trauma when his absence in camp generated controversy amongst the club’s faithfuls.
Dismissing the reports, the side through its director, Cristiano Giuntoli has insisted the former Lille forward had been given permission to attend to international duties. Mr Cristiano also stated he was perplexed at why the issue would even cause raised eyebrows.
“We don’t understand why there is controversy around this, because he was given permission to take time off after international duty and he arrived on schedule.
He is an extraordinary lad, a great professional, so the question ought to be why these things emerge in the media. Of course, there won’t be a fine, he was given permission.”
Osimhen’s late return, however saw him sit out Napoli’s 3-1 victory against Atalanta on Sunday.
