Nigerians Call For National Assembly To Be Shut Down
Nigeria’s legislature, the National Assembly has been asked to shut down following the alarming streak of attacks in Northern state, Kaduna.
Irked by the security situation in the nation’s third most populous state, some factions of Nigerians have called on the Red Chamber to go on a complete shutdown in protest.
The move, they insisted should continue until President Muhammadu Buhari is propelled to take critical actions against bandits and terrorists.
In the last couple of days, bandits and their cohorts have launched multiple attacks on residents and infrastructures in the state.
Bandits on Saturday, the 26th of March attacked the Kaduna International Airport, allegedly preventing any aircraft from taking off before they were held off by security agents.
An attack on the rail line between the Katari and Rinjani train station along the Kaduna-Abuja route came a few days after.
24 hours after the attack on the rail line, bandits in like manner attacked some residents in the state.
Nigerians who took to Twitter to express their dissatisfaction wrote,
@Supervilli: “These attacks by bandits is becoming worrisome, and at this stage, I think the National Assembly should shut down their operations in protest of these terrorist attacks.”
@Ttrepsiola: “Buhari has failed us and the National Assembly should force the president to take decisive action against him.”
@Olaniyiyebos: “Instead of them making laws that would curb the activities of banditry, terrorism, and insecurity, the National Assembly was focused on Electoral Acts and preparing for the next elections. Who will vote for them when the country is not safe?”
@Stedybird: “The National Assembly needs to amend the constitution to create room for the adequate tackling of these terrorists, especially in the Northeast and Northcentral.”
