The Abia State People’s Democratic Party (PDP) secretariat was filled with fanfare and frenzy as Innocent Onyeji Adiele, an illustrious son of Umuobiala in Isuikwuato LGA picked the nomination and expression of interest forms at the party secretariat, Umuahia on the 5th of April, 2022, to contest for Isuikwuato state constituency seat at the Abia State House of Assembly come 2023.
While fielding questions from newsmen immediately after picking the forms, Mr Adiele described his entry into the race as the beginning of a new dawn for the good people of Isuikwuato state constituency.
In his words, “After intensive and extensive consultations with stakeholders in my ward and LGA, I have taken the challenge to fill the leadership gap in Isuikwuato state constituency. See, we can no longer afford to keep marking time while others are moving forward and at a great speed in all facets of development. Things have continued to degenerate in our dear LGA because we refused to put our best brains in leadership positions and we have woken up. We’ll no longer allow people who have politics as their only means of livelihood to be in charge of our affairs. I am an accomplished businessman with chains of investments. I have a second address and I am disillusioned with the state of things in the land of my birth. I was born in Isuikwuato and I grew up here and so, I know and understand the needs of my people. I feel their pulse. Have you ever asked yourself what they do with the constituency project funds allocated to them each year? Have you gone through the annual budget of Abia state to see the projects approved for Isuikwuato LGA since 1999? What happened to those projects? Where are they?
“I have come with a new paradigm, a new dimension which, if given the opportunity, will herald a new vista for Isuikwuato LGA. Take a ride from Onuaku, Ukwunwangwu, Umuanyi to Oguduasa, Isuamawu and Imenyi and you will see reasons to weep for our dear LGA.”
Mr Adiele who was accompanied to the party secretariat by many well-meaning Isuikwuato LGA volunteers and groups including Isuikwuato Young Graduates (IYG) and Isuikwuato Youths Network (IYN) among others, assured that his victory in this race will surely mark a watershed in the history of representation for Isuikwuato LGA.
